Dr. Roberto da Silva Gomes

Pesquisadores

Roberto S. Gomes obtained his PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of São Paulo in 2011. Afterward, he joined the group of Prof. Adilson Beatriz at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul as a postdoctoral assistant to design new chemical methodologies for the synthesis of biologically active compounds. In 2013, he started his independent career as an Assistant Professor at the Federal University of Grande Dourados. His research interests are focused on C–C bond activation and cross-coupling reactions. He was a Visiting Professor at Harvard University in association with Prof. E. J. Corey’s Research Group (2017-2020), and was research advisor in the Master and Doctoral degree programs in Chemistry at Institute of Chemistry of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul, and Federal University of Grande Dourados. Currently, working as an Assistant Professor at the School of Pharmacy at North Dakota State University (NDSU), in the United States.

Research Interests

  • Enantioselective synthesis
  • Development of novel small molecules, nucleotides and antibodies
  • Tumor-targeting strategy using enediones engineered with cytotoxic moiety/NIR probes to be used in cancer therapy.
  • Development of new NIR fluorescent probe-therapeutic agent conjugate triggered by the acid pH of the environment of the tumor cell for the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and molecular drug discovery of Proteolysis Targeting Chimeric (PROTAC) based prototype.
  • Computational Chemistry to understand our results.
